Sanskrit is a classical language from the Indian subcontinent. It is a cultural language (you can compare it to Latin in the West), but still one of the 23 official languages in India. There are around 6000 speakers of this language.
Some quick facts:

- Sanskrit uses the Devanagari script (just like Hindi ).
- Devanagari has 36 basic characters.
For your name translation we use transliteration (phonetic translation) because many Western names don't have a Sanskrit equivalent, so the translation you get is pronounced the same as in English.
